Background
All children have the right to an education in and out of school. At the Joselyn Dumas Foundation (JDF) we believe that with the right education every child has the ability to achieve their utmost potential now and in the future. Unfortunately there are many children in Ghana and Africa that do not have the opportunity to receive an adequate education for reasons such as poverty, abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination.
Mission
The Joselyn Dumas Foundation has a mission for every child in Ghana and Africa as a whole, to be given the opportunity to attain their fullest potential in life through education. Our primary focus is to provide support through various initiatives; to give the most vulnerable children the chance to be educated well both in and out of school. We work with communities and schools to give every child the opportunity to access quality academic and social education.
Goals
Provide adequate educational support for underprivileged children & the youth.
Award scholarships to brilliantly academic children who need financial support to achieve their highest potential.
Increase the literacy rate of children living in deprived areas through reading clubs and libraries.
Objectives
Set up educational funds to support brilliant but underprivileged children & improve educational facilities to aid adequate education for standard community schools in deprived areas.
Provide educationally adequate summer reading clubs for children in sub-standard schools in rural areas.
Build libraries in key areas around Ghana initially to give children the ability to have access to a plethora of reading materials.
Build theme parks and sporting facilities for children to enhance their creative ability.
Run advertising campaigns on television and utilise social media to create awareness of the plight of these children and the need to support this noble cause.
Renovate low-standard schools, especially in rural areas, to improve the learning environment for the children.
Hold an annual gala event and other fundraising events to raise money so we can fund our charity initiatives.
The ideals of the Joselyn Dumas Foundation will go a long way in supporting and enhancing the lives of Ghanaian children and children of Africa at large. This is our commitment, a responsibility and contribution towards making our nation and continent a great and strong haven for the future of our children, the leaders of tomorrow.
Work we have done so far
Funded a number of surgeries at Korle-Bu Teaching hospital
Spearheaded Ghana’s first viral campaign #Xcholera, that championed the eradication of cholera
Worked with the United Nations Climate Change body (UNFCCC) moderating high level conversations in Africa to foster effective climate ambitions & recently the Global Landscapes Forum(GLF) & Climate Chance Africa.
In collaboration with Daniel Amoateng funded the education of defiled young girls, reintegrating them back to school and provided the assistance they need to overcome the trauma.
Partnered with Could You Cup? to provide menstrual cups to underprivileged girls in rural areas.
